What Was Lost
True Poems
We watched the poets upon the stage
Far better ones than I
Ones that melt your heart
speak their tongues
swirl their breaths
intermingling their emotions with the crowd
As they call into the night about
Abandonment!
Passion!
Feelings!
Injustice!
How ever could I compete with the minds of gods as mere mortal?
Standing silently in the stage lights
As a tear falls upon your cheek and you reach for a tissue
To self-soothe
And I know we have connected
But only in the ways of things lost
