A Dream’s Hope
Poem
A dream is mesmerizing
to the soul, meandering entirely
through the essential entity.
It breathes eternally
and endlessly,
continuously fulfilling
its intoxicating effect.
A dream supports the soul
upon effort’s epiphanies and
ambition’s accomplishments,
filling sufficiently life’s
days and months and years
with ample hope.
A soul’s inflation from a dream’s hope
contains the capacity to carry a man
over mountains.
But a sudden, disastrous deflation of one’s soul
due to the dispelling of a dying dream’s hope
will inevitably result in succumbing
to gravity’s malicious attraction
to the cold, hard Earth,
for a soul cannot feast on a dead dream.
And my soul is screaming.
