Between Two
Poem
To think of the disparity between what we feel and what we tell
Each other you would almost think at times the other didn’t
Deign to say anything at all with everything that churns
Within us causing tears and heartache
And yet
Can it be that silence challenges us to find a greater strength, to force our own
External output of emotion toward another and to
Learn that love is not something to be received but also given
While we hold ourselves alone in the night, wondering
Will it ever be mine again, as I have given,
Shall I receive?
