The Smuggs Chronicle, Part Twelve
Haibun
Twelfth Day: August 29, 2013
The day’s weather wears “a thousand faces.” Patches of blue sky and sun follow gray skies and rain. The day screams, “Pursue indoor activities!”
We listen and head to Jeffersonville.
Our first stop? The Vermont Sampler. Mira eyes a gratitude bracelet — four crystal spheres on a sterling silver band — and then several trinkets: odds and ends, memorabilia, etc. We buy the bracelet, honey and natural solid perfume.

The weather remains clears for the Vermont Country Fair. Frankie and I race in the two-legged sack race — and I, alone, in the adult crabwalk race. We ride Segways. He climbs the rock-climbing tower and rappels down.
We lose the water balloon toss. Mira is denied her massage by tent assembly.
