Along the Bones
Free Verse Poetry
See them as they race through the sinews and along the bones
Interwoven with their preordained infrastructures ill-afforded them by freedoms
Products of existing where they were born and expanded and trapped as their surroundings closed in around them
Dividing, lengthening, dividing once more
The pulsing of them louder than our heartbeats as they race through the channels
Each metal husk slower than the last as the tracks rock, propel, support
Each line a vein, each train the red cells, each seat the white, each holding a platelet
That carries us through and keeps its momentum
As we sit down to study our cell phones, oblivious
