The Art of Letting Go
Poem
The creature of my memory collage
Came creeping out the subway yesterday
It licked its fur as it was dirty
And looked perplexed at all the people walking
Keeping their distance
It screamed for help
Nobody answered
The rain came down colourless and empty
Making the streets heavy and long
While the creature walked its way
To the water
Where it sat on a tiny boat and waited
For the river to move
It looked in the distance
Where the bridge smiled
Suddenly the fur started falling
And the colour reappeared
Underneath the coat
It was blue and red and green and pink
A mosaic of brightness and sky
It waved to the crowd
Standing by and said
Adieu adieu
