As The Clouds Do
Poem
The earth smiles from the dark
While the water rises
And fills my lungs
I choose to believe
Things will change
They have to
Or I will die
There is a butterfly flying
Over the water
Its wings touching
The surface
It stops suddenly
And falls
Things need to change
They have to
Or I will die
A hand, there is a hand
Pulling me to the wall
Smashing my skull
But I can’t feel any pain
It tears my hair
Things need to change
They have to
Or I will die
What is that in the shadow?
A bird is looking at me
With drops in its eyes
I didn’t know birds could cry
Things need to change
They have to
Or I will die
There it is, finally
I am relieved
Of a life waiting in vain
Things are not going to change
The stupidity will stay
And eat the light
We will die
As do the clouds in the sky
