Racing
Like my mind and thoughts and through this station
On metal trains with rough connections
I see you there
And you and you and you
independent but together
never again to be here at this same time
How everything we’ve ever done had been done in exactly such a way
For this one, tiny, beautiful moment
As I brush your hand on the subway pole and emit a shy apology
I think of how beautiful you are
as a person that I will never know
As we pass through stations
avoiding eye contact
Awaiting disembarkment at Union Square
