God
Poem
Gold, bright, I shield my eyes.
It’s here? What now? I didn’t count on…
Crushing. Reasoning. Oh God, Oh God…
The black velvet, I smiled.
No tomorrow, just this…
Delicious. Devouring. Oh God, Oh God…
Pale, raw, nameless shade.
Unformed and unknown…
Terrifying. Uncompromising. Oh God, Oh God…
Red, raging, I cover my eyes.
Heart pounding, I’m drowning…
Solitary. Repentent. Oh God, Oh God…
Brown, dirt and despair.
Listless, lost, hopeless.
Resigned. Despondent. Oh God, Oh God…
Gold comes again; I awake.
A dream? Can it be true?
Cautionary. Chastened. Yes, God. Yes.
