Gothicarus: Part III – Decisions
Serial Poem
“Keralynne!” he fiercely whispered,
In a voice that roused her from her trance.
“I am here, outside your window;
It’s a night fit for romance.”
She rose, brushing back the curtains
From the casement, ornate, black, and wide.
She let her eyes fall warily
On the rakish frame outside.
Delighted that she’d awakened,
He smiled up at her mischievously,
He brushed his hair back from his eyes,
Whispering, “Come dance with me.”
Did she hesitate that moment?
Did the harbingers once give her pause?
Did she guess what would await her?
Did she dare this line to cross?
For once, she’d be her own master,
And sail the ship of her own dark fate.
Wrapping rosary round her wrist,
She replied with a smile, “Wait.”
