In Her Service
Poem
The knight took up his sword and shield
In service to his Queen
He served her well
When all else failed her
His life was forfeit for her
His sword drank deeply
Of her enemies’ blood
His shield bore many arrows
And crushing blows
His own blood was shed
His bones cracked
For her safety and honor
Then
The war ended suddenly
And she was

Everything he fought for
Everything he loved
He stiffens within his cold armor
Longing for the days
When his Queen needed him
Sword at his side
Gathering
Rust
In
The
Rain
Waiting…
