The Explorers
Poem
And so the earth was so wetted with rain
Its surfaces steeped in so much moisture
That all below the surface met that above it and
So bodies of water were formed
That made the connections we could travel to upon
Floating rafts of hope and desire and greed
So excited were we for the channels as
We lost the footpaths and forged new connections
While we left our beloveds on
The islands as we promised to return
As we sought new depths
Only to realize the line had
Been lost somewhere in-between and now
Our cries were lost to the millions of stars we now knew existed
Without the city lights
To mask them
